Who were the franciscan monks?

i have a project due friday, its a brochure and i need to know these points, mainly. when and where were they founded(i already know st francis founded them in 13th century) what vows did they take?(poverty,silence,etc) What did they stand for or do? what is their ministry? thanks, please answer soon!!
