Need help, gotta find out if i can or not...please help?

alright well i want to learn to skate i have a board and i can at least ride it pretty well, i wana learn the ollie now, and well is it possible to do any tricks in converse like the shoes, or do i actually need skate shoes? if you could like help and if i need skate shoes can you at least explain why?
